Hows your son doing ?

  1. He is due in for counseling Thursday....his blood tests at the place in Searcy showed nothing but pot in his blood (I don't mean to downplay that but it is a relief compared to what could have been).  The residential facility bore no new information just limited IQ (labeled light retardation) and paranoia....they did add Manic Depression from OCD that has been off and on with whoever tested him for ever.  He will appear in court with a public defender Monday.   This is where I worry the most.  He did it I have no doubt for he has admitted as much.  The outcome will strictly be up to a judge who I hope is having a good day.  This I am leaving to God since I can have no effect.  I love my son and would like him home tho.
My biggest complaint is that he was held in a jail and no help or petition to the judge presented to a judge for 2 days.  No effort was made to find him a place to go.  The caring people at the counties choice of clinic refused to see him in the jail house only doing this after he was released (until then he was in regular population) and he was interviewed by a "para" not a doctor....and kept from people that knew him and had his records. I had no problem with the rest of the procedures...he undoubtedly broke the law.  He must do as they request of him now.  It just amazes me that we lock up mentally ill in this day and age.  Had they responded to the jail prior instead of refusing to see him and this had occurred I would feel different...he was in jail...But as it occurred he was jailed and held for being mentally ill...and no rush to file a petition to a judge afterward.  My respect for all concerned in an official capacity is diminished and I don't like that.  I have the utmost respect for our system here and in other neighboring counties who have always went out of the way to help when he has had problems.  Our sheriff has been to the house to talk to him when I asked him to because he was running with a bad person and nipped it in the bud.  Hopefully if he gets to come home he will remember this and stay in our part of the state and not ramble so far away.
I ramble too much at times and want you to know I appreciate your concern and prayers would be appreciated.  Best always my friend...

  2. Oh haven't forgot to mention you or him in my prayers. I myself have been a heavy user of pot and still will take a hit though it's very rare these days. I also have had experience with a loved one and the mental health and legal systems and their good and bad sides. I've also been jailed for a few hours here and there.
I can't say that I understand because everyone has different experiences. Also the combination of drugs and mental challenges can be problematic. I'm not certain though that pot is necessarily a bad thing for someone who is in a situation like the one you describe. It may be harmful or it just might be helpful. Unfortunately, our legal system makes it impossible to be objective in making that determination.
Best of luck and remember that he will have not just the P.D. on his side but our Lord too. Hope you have better luck with your AC and health too. Later Gator...
