Todays GA was very productive. Foreclosure defense is progressing with volunteers signing up to attend court proceedings and the shirt orders will be put in on Monday. We are getting polos instead of tees for the court-watch crew.

Hi - I rarely follow anyone wit 941,814 followers but I am really impressed with the variety and intensity of your entourage. I am in awe (sorry) Your patience is inspiring.

I can't always tell the difference. Tolerance for example - I'd rather accept everyone, as they are and love them. (YOU) On the other hand - I hide myself from many because of their actions and reactions. I would love to think most people were good but I fear that they are not.

CIRCLE MANAGEMENT
---------------------------------------
Margie Hearron pointed out earlier today that Sharon Vaknin, an editor at CNET.com with over 12,500 followers, is struggling to filter the noise from her stream. And I want to help! =D

I have very carefully built my circles around a system that I am now going to share with you. This is my secret weapon to circle organization.

I'm a very visual person, so I worked really hard to make this slideshow to (hopefully) explain the process as clearly as I can.

May it inspire you to grow your circles to include a lively network of active people!!!

Many great thanks to all the early adopters who provided tips when I first joined last July! I'm standing on the shoulders of giants!

5 Ways to Save Google Plus Posts for Later Reading

While you're browsing Google+ on your computer, you may come across a post which you might want to read or share later. There are a few ways you can do this using Chrome Extensions and other service tools. There are likely to be similar methods to use the same services in Firefox or IE.

1. Read It Later - Service, Chrome Extension + Mobile App
This is my personal favourite because it syncronises with the ReadItLater service across my desktops (Chrome) and all my devices and now has over 300 apps.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/bbabbdijmipkeilehcnbopedgbjejbmb

2. Evernote - Sharing to an Evernote Circle
I learned this technique from Chase Mann in the early days of G+ and I was already an Evernote user. If you want to save a post for more than just reading it later, you can do this by sharing to a circle which only has a 'user' you've added which is your evernote email address. For more detailed instructions, see Chase's post.
https://plus.google.com/104226133029319075907/posts/TT2NMtK7zWg

3. Favorite Posts for Google+
This is a Chrome Extension that adds a favorite star to each post in a G+ stream, just click the star to add the post to your G+ Favorites. To access the full listing, a Favorites menu link has been added to the left sidebar to access your list of favorite posts.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/kbhljnodjcehoonoejjpjnifgkkgjiec

4. ReadLaterFast Chrome Extension
The last Chrome extension I tested was ReadLaterFast, similar to ReadItLater, but can be used either in Chrome only mode without sync, or by syncing to a Diigo.com account.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/decdfngdidijkdjgbknlnepdljfaepji

5. Share to Empty Circle
If you create a circle without adding any users to it, you can also share posts to this circle to save for later. You would still have access to the circle from your mobile apps if they are configured to display this circle.

There are probably a dozen more ways to save posts from Google+, but these seemed the most obvious to me.

For a more detailed and illustrated version of this post with links to all extensions:

So, you guys have seen me talk about C. Corey Fisk before. You've seen me wax all glowing and girlcrushy about her because, frankly, she is crushable on pretty much all conceivable levels of crushability.

Beyond that, though... this woman is tough as shit and frakking brilliant.

If you follow her stream at all, you know that; she's one of the people at the forefront of the Virtual Photo Walks™ project, she agitates in favor of the disable, and she's also a fantabulous geek. And, of course, Corey is a writer.

She wrote much of this book several years ago, and it is finally coming to print. I have had the multifaceted honor of not only being able to read this book, but also to actively partake in working on making its sequel come into being. Memoirs of a Mouthy Dame -- Beyond Repair: Living with MS is, as I have told its author, an important book.

That's not quite right. It's an Important Book.

I don't know about you guys, but I used to have only the barest of familiarity with multiple sclerosis. I knew it was a thing, a disease, and it was the sort that if someone got it we'd talk about it with hushed whispers and sad demeanour. MS is, honestly, not something I'd talk about while jumping up and down and playing accordion. But thanks to Corey's book, I actually have a working knowledge of it without having felt like a moron while it was explained to me.

Even better, she was able to explain it to me in such a way that I giggled while I learned, and then this bold woman went on to ask questions I never would have asked - some of them because I wasn't consciously aware that I had such questions to ask.

Below is the link to Corey's book. It's currently 25% off until March 24, and I strongly encourage you to take advantage of this launch sale - if possible, by two or three copies, so that you can keep one for yourself and give the others away to friend show might otherwise try to steal it from you!

And if for some reason you don't have the money to snag this jewel of a book for yourself... please share this post. Hopefully one of your friends will buy it.

Then you can yoink their copy. ;)

G+ Social Experiment #3 : The Story Of My Life

Ladies and gentleman, this is an experiment I have been working on for a while and Its my attempt at one of the biggest things in my life..And I need your help! In fact I ran a focus group with 50 people on this experiment to see if people would be interested and 91% of the focus group wanted to see this experiment run!

This experiment is a bit more complex then the last two.. But the results will create a true life diary of people on G+. Something like this has never been done on any social platform. My goal in this experiment is to bring real life in to social media. This experiment will not collect data; rather the participants will upload a video (up to 5 minutes in length max) on a shared social experiment YouTube channel set up for all of the participants to use. This experiment is also a test on Google’s new idea of cross platform introduction, the results will show if it’s possible to use two different Google properties to create an engagement.

The YouTube page made for this experiment already has a few actual G+ videos uploaded from the focus group to show the idea of what we want. This experiment will run for about 8 weeks. The End date is May 11, 2012. The experiment goal is to get 1,000 or more videos submitted. At the end of this experiment, with the help of a few video experts on G+, a movie will be made based on the submitted videos by G+ users and we will submit the final cut to the Independent Film Festival… So if you ever wanted to be in a movie or media, ever wanted to tell the world how you feel about hunger or talk about your favorite pet, this is your chance.. Please share this with as many people in your circle, so we can get a true image of the people on G+ and their life.

Here are the Guidelines to the Experiment:

Please make a video about something in your life. You don’t have to show your face, You can change your voice. In fact we ask that you don’t give your name. The video could be about your daily life, pets, your job (please no spam!), your relationship, the economy, the election, politics, your hobbies ( please no porn, no hate crimes and no violence!)… Anything that is important in your life. Please do not use copyrighted material. Be creative with your work.. The idea behind this experiment is not so much to match people and their story; but to get video ripples in social media.

We do ask you to please start your video with these words: “I am a Google + user and this is the story of my life…..”

Once you make this short video (up to 5 minutes max in length), please upload it to the social YouTube Channel that has been set up for all of the G+ experiment participants to use.

Here is the Youtube Channel: http://www.Youtube.com/gplusexperiment
Username: gplusexperiment
Password: exp12345

Please title your video: G Plus Experiment: The Story Of My Life
Put whatever you want for description.
For Tags use these: gplus, google plus, google experiment, the story of my life, g experiment
Category: Science and Technology
Privacy setting should be public and license should be standard.

Please Do NOT change the username or password on the share account. Please respect other peoples work and do not delete or change them, this is a community experiment and it requires a true team work and trust for it to work. And don't forget to check the YouTube channel often for fresh videos from the community. Thanks Again!

I saw something on the internet the other night that I didn’t agree with. Someone posted as an Occupy “XXX” group that we were all Libertarians. I of course accused them of being posers and uncircled them. That’s what we do; right? When someone doesn’t fit our definition of an occupier, we cut and run. I don’t mean turn either. I mean cut.

Of course that’s what we do, ON THE INTERNET !

Sigh....

In the real world we still have to live together. Consensus is hard. We still have to work together. We are making a difference. Posers and troublemakers aren’t our enemy. They are just evidence that we are getting somewhere. We still have to succeed together. The only other option is to fail.

I didn't identify the occupy profile because everyone has a stake in the future. I might not agree with them but I'd hear them out at a GA. (I still think they're posers though - ftr)
Pffft... is not a very persuasive argument.

Women, are you tired of reading weird harassing comments on your posts? Think that the internet is a jerk factory, where if you block one another pops up? Do you wish that the community discouraged harassment? Then you need a harassment reporting tool (not available on all networks).
Men, are you sick of losing women to Pinterest and Facebook? Wish they had a safe place to post publicly? Then you need a harassment reporting tool (not available on Google Plus).
Anyone, do you wish that you could do something more than blocking when a bully or a creep posts something that promotes discrimination, bigotry, racism, hatred, or harassment toward you or others? Then you need a harassment reporting tool (if you want one on your social network you are going to have to fight for it!).

Please, if you want Google Plus to make it possible to report harassment, #voteithot by sharing, +1'ing, and commenting. With enough support, we can make harassment a reportable offense.

Rarely does a cover of a great song come along that beats or is even equal to the original - Marianne Faithful's cover of John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" is one in my book.

Here's another - a knockout cover of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" - that makes you listen to it with fresh ears.

It doesn't hurt that one half of the duo is a dead ringer for Johnny Depp.

It's late and I'm too tired to try to write some witty "hook" to drag you in. Just look and see how many of your "friends" are here.

Hello plussers!

I submitted two of my works to an art contest in Spain. But apparently votes are also very important for this, so I'd greatly appreciate if you'd help me on this one.
My social awkwardness needs you!

Anyway, if you wish to vote, each link has one of the paintings I've submitted, to vote, just click 'Votar' on the bottom right.

You may also share this if you wish to help me any further.

Thank you very much!

Not everyone is here. Theses girls are just a few.

They're pilots-to-be, executives, mammies, bloggers, singers, journalists, students, artists and many other occupations I can't recall.

They may intense, reserved, generous, naïve, brave, untidy, loud, kind, serious, clever, straight-to-the-point, wise, witty or hard-working. None of these and yet everything at the same time.

They're women.

Power, intuition and strength. Strong combination.

Today is your day. Officially. In my humble opinion, the other 364 are as well.

Enjoy your official day. You deserve it. And a lot more.

I'd really like to believe we are a long way from this... but I don't think we are as far away as some people would like to think, and certainly not as far away as I'd wish to be.

Reading aloud is different. Some things - like poetry should almost always be given a voice. Try it for yourself. Take a mouthful of poetry or The Bard and see if it doesn't take on more meaning. Heck, try it on the train to work this morning....

Dear Ron Paul supporters - Yes he has some good ideas - No he's probably not too much worse the the rest of the candidates. - I try very hard not to trash your threads but seriously... While I don't think all Republicans are evil just because they follow evil leaders - I can't help thinking you are all crazy for following him. IMHO neither crazy nor evil people should be in the position to blow up the whole world. Please keep that idea in mind this November. Thank you.

Moving Day for Occupy Palm Beach

Moving Day for Occupy Palm Beach

Occupy Palm Beach is being evicted this morning. One of the longest running occupations has joined the growing list of victims of the assault on the Constitution. Several arrests have been made. Reports vary (as they always seem to) from a few (WPBPD) to more than a dozen (onsite witnesses)

West Palm Beach Police and Palm Beach Co. Sheriffs Dept. teamed up to remove the brave protesters from the chilly site downtown. The eviction is going peacefully in comparison to other cities. In this picture some of the occupiers are being extricated from a balcony where they have locked themselves to the building.

Please take a moment and share this photo by Marcia Truitt, to click the like button to honor Landon's mom, Crissie's, request to help keep the memory of Andrew alive. Andrew stood up for your freedom and paid the ultimate price.

We mostly do not think of war and why it is a part of our lives. Whether the war was right or wrong doesn't matter, who was right or wrong doesn't matter.

What matters is that Andrew like so many countless thousands did the best he could and maybe, just maybe one day, those in charge will realize the price of war is not worth the outcome and will choose Peace instead.

The Origin of Third Person in Paleolithic Epic Poetry

by Gerald Warfield

The first story ever told was told in first person. It was told around a campfire by Ogg who raised both his fists into the air and exclaimed in a loud voice: “I killed a mammoth!”

Ogg’s story was very popular, especially with his girl friend, Umpah, and he was asked to repeat it often. But Ogg was frequently away on hunting trips and not available to tell his story, so Umpah began to tell it. Looking up at the others around the campfire, she quietly told the story in third person and it went like this: “Ogg went out one day and he killed a mammoth.”

Although with either telling what the listeners around the fire envisioned was more or less the same, they much preferred the first-person version. But alas, after Ogg’s unfortunate encounter with the mama of the mammoth he had killed, the only version of the story available was Umpah’s, but she was often asked to tell it.

Now, there was at this time a rascal among those who crouched around the fire, and he noticed that people preferred the first person version of the story and that they were sorry they could no longer hear it told in that manner. After thinking about it, the rascal figured out a way that the first person version could be told again, and he invited everyone down to the dry stream bed to hear it.

He quickly put on a ratty bear skin like Ogg always wore, painted a long scar across his face just like Ogg’s and sported a feather in his hair like the ones Umpah always gave him before a hunt. After everyone had gathered at the stream bed, the rascal jumped out from the bushes and raised his spear and said: “I am Ogg, the greatest of all hunters, and I went out and I killed a mammoth!”

The people were delighted and beat their hands together in appreciation. They knew, of course, that it was the rascal who told the story, but they enjoyed it nevertheless. The rascal repeated the story many times in the stream bed. It was a good location to tell a story, being very flat and wide, and the people began to refer to the place as the Broad Way.

After several seasons there came a liar named Eh to the campfire who saw the success of the rascal in telling Ogg’s story in first person, as if it were his own. He wanted to dress up like Ogg and tell the story, too, but the liar was missing one leg and so nearsighted that no one would believe he had killed a mammoth, no matter how much he dressed up. So the liar named Eh decided that he would tell the story in another way.

Eh took up a bow and plucked the string while he recited the story in rhythm which he called poetry. The technique worked so well that he excited people just as much as Ogg, who had raised his hands and shouted, and Umpah, who had first elaborated on the story, and the rascal, who had sprayed the audience with spittle. Eh picked upon his bow and recited the poem like this:

Ogg, the great
Did exclamate:
I killed the MONSTER!

With consummate skill
The Mammoth killed,
Upon his spear he tossed her.

Eh hobbled around to all the caves in the valley picking his bow and picking the poetry, too. And the people were always glad to hear Eh pick poetry (ahem). In this way, Ogg’s story passed down from generation to generation until it was heard by a man named Homer who changed it a lot.

While I fully support Mr. Limbaugh's right to express his opinions, I swear that given the opportunity (it COULD happen) I will express mine to him. He hasn't been getting out much lately though and I do live about 20 miles away. On the other hand, he IS easy to spot when he does go out.

My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.
