Wow ! What a great project...
I was searching for a (non-clickbait) link to the NY Public Library book-train when I found this site. Not just a good photos link but a fascinating BTS story too.

I am moved sometimes by great #grateartwednesday pictures. I see some awesome images on the Grate Art Wednesday page. I think Gary Posner and David Washington would agree though that it's pretty cool when you get literally moved by the actual grates themselves...

Also, who else feels like grabbing a hotdog for lunch ?

I've thought about renting cameras or lenses or other fancy equipment for a photoshoot before. This was the first time I ever thought about renting shoes though.

WPP2016 - Week 39 - Unsharp or Blur
Shucks, since almost none of my pictures are sharp, this should be right up my alley. But what to do, what to do ? I had to wait for the right idea to strike my fancy. It took me a gazillion tries to get this one, so the whole day is just a blur in my memory. I do however have plenty of pictures to spare.

If you want some coolness on a hot and muggy day~ nothing is cooler that the bowling alley. That is, until Captain "Show-off" Kirk beams your pins up.

I went to Sparta Tenn. for the Upper Cumberland Air Show today. My take away observations:
Ask nicely and sometimes they let you park right by the gate instead of a mile away. So, no waiting in a line for the shuttle bus !
It's always a nice surprise when the gate person says, "Oh no, don't bother walking all the way over there to buy a ticket. Here's a spare wristband and you just go right in".
Action photography is really hard. This was good practice though.
Folks around here clean up after themselves. Also, it you leave your homemade beanbag on a garbage can for forty five minutes they don't steal it, toss it in the can or on the ground. It's still there when you go back by. (I use it to steady the camera)
They let you bring in bags, chairs (in bags), cameras (in bags), blankets and coolers and stuff - right out to the flightline.
Finally, it was way cool when one of them flew his plane through a ribbon stretched across the runway about eight feet up. The pilot really worked it too. A couple of very low, very fast and very close passes to get our attention and he came on the PA over the radio and said he was going to cut the ribbon NOW. Well, I was expecting low and fast but what was just, well, unexpected ? He came in upside down.

When four women working together at a Tempe photography shop noticed how much harder it was for women to be regarded as the artist behind a photograph rather than the subject, they decided to do something about it.

I was prop hunting at the Dollar Tree today and picked up a wide angle lens for my phone. It works better than I expected. Just don't try to use the flash.

It got a little windy and a lot of rainy so I pulled off the road today. I found a way to park and shoot out my (open) window and hoped for some lightning.

No luck on the lightning but there were some sparks across the street. If only I'd been looking left instead of up...

Brother Theo says- it makes a darn nice zen garden though.
Princess Lizzie says - Daddy needs a good shrink.

I probably would have just run this through some app and been perfectly happy but my old laptop running Vista won't let me any more.
This is all done in GIMP with the Charcoal filter coming from G'MIC.

First, scoop up all the hidden treasure. Then add a nice fresh layer and shake it/smooth and rake it. Only then realize that all the fancy lines and stuff aren't showing up in the picture. Fix that with a lasso tool from GIMP and a gradient that's radient er, radial and then turn it into a charcoal sketch with G'MIC.
I added the text and fiddled with the perspective, trying for a cinematic effect and then brought the colors back with a copy of the original with the layer mode set to color. Finally, I boosted them a little and brought the contrast up a bit for a "graphic illustration" look.

Comments including critiques and marginally related topics are required. Thanks in advance. (examples below)
"I would have done it different", or "Life is like a big box of cat turds" or "that looks like tree rings, do you like ice cream" ?

My artistic choices are limited since my laptop runs Vista and now my favorite editors quit working. So this is all done in GIMP with the Charcoal filter coming from G'MIC.
