Music time! I've just launched into directing an amazing musical play ("Mr Burns: A Post-Electric Play" by Marsha Washburn - based (somewhat) on The Simpsons TV show) and I need current/recent pop songs with catchy refrains or choruses on themes of "power, solidarity, fear, confusion, loss, or mourning" for a song/dance medley that's left to each director to create.

I am less on top of current pop music than I ought to be, so help me out. If you're in the area (or planning to be for the solar eclipse) and I use your suggestions, I'd be happy to comp you tickets to the show, which runs Aug 18-20/25-26, bracketing the eclipse weekend ...3 ...2 ... 1 ... GO.

Come join us, but hurry. There are only a few slots left. This "Photo Scavenger Hunt" is loads of fun. Lots of good people and a chance to learn more in a shorter time than you can even imagine. Just do it...

There is still time - join us (but hurry) and have a blast. Just click on the link here or Go to Lauri Novak original post, and comment, "I'm in". Then be prepared to have more fun with your camera than you can even imagine.

THIS IS THE OFFICIAL "20th" ROUND SIGN UP
for the +Chrysta Rae Photography Scavenger Hunt!

Don't know what that is?
It's an amazing game that has turned into so much more.
If you love photography, and you have a camera,
COME JOIN US!!

Simply type "I'M IN" in the comments & fill out the Google Form here: https://goo.gl/forms/i7rP35wOlXWBlrEF3

and the first 350 people to sign up will be entered.

After sign ups (after I get everyone organized & invited to the community) there will be 3 posts:
#1 post will be a PARTICIPATION POST
#2 post will be RULES & EXPECTATIONS
#3 post will be HOW THIS ALL WORKS
THEN I will be giving you an item list - 7 simple things to take pictures of.
This process should all happen by the end of my day/tonight - but to leave room/time for error/beta testing of the Google Forms sheet, it should make it much easier/quicker but since this is the first time we're trying it I'm being cautious!

It's up to you to make your picture stand out!!
It's so much fun!!
You will have 8 weeks to get the photos done.

You do NOT need to be a professional shooter.
You do NOT need a fancy camera.
You do NOT need to feel any hesitation on your skill level,
as this group of Scavengers is the most supportive group of people I have ever known.
This is just FOR FUN.
This will get YOU to use your camera in ways you might not do otherwise,
It's to push you to try new things,
learn new techniques,
join a group of like-minded people who will encourage you
and teach you sooo much!
Basically this gives you a fun excuse to take pictures you wouldn't have otherwise!

During the course of the round, you will make friends,
You will have support and be encouraged and be a part of the best community on G+.
You WILL be welcomed and surrounded by wonderful people
who WANT you to watch you succeed and surprise yourself!!

SO, if that sounds like something you'd like to be a part of...
All you have to do is type two simple little words, "*I'M IN*"
Fill out the attached Google Form and you will be registered.

IF YOU ARE SIGNING UP SOMEONE AS A PROXY (if someone has asked you to sign them up) do so on different comments. (don’t worry about the form if you are signing up as a proxy for someone)
And there NEEDS to be G+ account linked to that name.

Only ONE PERSON per comment, if there are more than one on a single comment, only the first person will be entered.
(This is the only way we can keep track of the 350 spots.)

PLEASE DO NOT comment on this post unless it is to sign up.
Any stray comments will be deleted.

PLEASE DO NOT sign up unless you actually want to participate,
not just because you see everyone else doing it.
And with that let the registration BEGIN!!

The example below was from our "knot" album last round.
Photos by Rita Zietsma Stephanie MacNeill Lou McCorkle Ariel K. Kasten Mark Rodriguez Steve Kalman Jim Migliore Paul Howard Shari Seibold

So just type I'M IN, fill out the google form here: https://goo.gl/forms/i7rP35wOlXWBlrEF3
and you will be included.

After 350 comments are in comments will be disabled and work on entering everyone will begin. If you are within the first 350, you will be hearing back in the next 1-2 days (it may even be today!) and be invited to join the 20th Round Scavenger Community. Good luck!

After reading about the G'MIC upgrade I just had to play around a little. I have a very old laptop and fumbled around but eventually loaded up the newest GIMP and G'MIC too. It loads up a lot faster and doesn't seem to be straining my computer as much, so I'm thrilled.

Anyway - this was a little GIMP and some G'MIC Online. If you've never tried the online option, you really should. There seem to be a couple of filters there that the plug-in doesn't have.

While I was waiting for some of the filters to run, I was dragged into a conversation about the good or bad side of "shopping" pictures. The biggest complaint seemed to be how difficult it is to tell if a picture is "real" or not.
Well, here's a handy tool to help you through that question. You might want to bookmark this one for future reference.
Three pictures in comments - before, after and one using the "clone detection" method that missed some of my better "work" on the image.

So it's #grateartwednesday again and I came prepared. I went looking over the weekend and got a fantastic shot of a beautiful grate with my good camera. Then on Monday, I serendipitously got a really good "artsy" one with my crappy phone camera. Yesterday, I couldn't resist laying down in the rain to snag yet one more with my "go play around" camera.

This morning, while trying to decide which one to share with Grate Art Wednesday I was interrupted by Mr Jingles. Google Photos had a memory it wanted me to see. This just popped up from a few years ago. I don't think I was even following Gary Posner & David Washington yet. I guess even back then I though I must have felt the"Call of the Grates".

The 20th Round of the Chrysta Rae Photography Scavenger Hunt will be starting very soon!

Sign ups WILL be held at 1:00pm Central Time Zone on June 10th.

A pretty big change this round - I will be running things (+Lauri Novak)
only 7 words will be given
and only 350 spots will be open.

If you're not sure what the Photography Scavenger Hunt is... it is simply an extremely creative way to get out and shoot. If you love photography - this is for you. It's that simple.

Every level of photographer is welcomed and encouraged to join.
You will learn, you will be inspired, you will meet a community of like-minded people who will embrace you.

If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of
then join me - here on my Google+ page at 1:00pm (CST) on Saturday, June 10th... and just say, "I'm in". We are going to try a new sign up procedure as well - besides the I’m In comment there will also be a Google Form to fill out - not much info just will save some setup time in the background.

Attached is an example of what you can create when inspired. The word was "knot" and these are 9 examples from extraordinary photographers who participated that round.
