This just in: Scientists have proven that humans are by their very nature kind, gentle and cooperative. Philosophers agree that our DNA and the process of evolution cause us to be hard wired for peaceful coexistence.

War, misogyny, slavery and the rest of human history is just anecdotal evidence and not statistically significant. More at eleven...

  1. Sorry Michael Silk This was more of a bit of ironic social commentary that an actual news flash. I'm a bit of a pessimist by nature.

  2. I guess experience plays a part in how one is effected?

  3. My wife and I are like opposite sides of a coin. She wants to think people are "good" and they disappoint her often. I don't expect people to be "good" and I'm pleasantly surprised quite a bit. I would rather feel that "Hey peeps are better than I thought" in my attention more often than the alternative.

  4. How do you think the laws stack up in society? and why are they there in the first place?

  5. That's a very broad question. Most good, some bad and a few too many but also not nearly enough of them. And so we can use force to try to control others without feeling personal guilt in the process.

  6. So because we are aware of our manipulative ways we should manage them to suit others?

  7. I'm not pushing any agenda here. I just was trying to be responsive to your question about what I think about the laws and why we started making them in the first place.
I'd be happy to hear a better answer if you have one.

  8. Creating direction would work in suiting ourselves in relation to others?

  9. I strongly believe that most folks are more interested in encouraging other to suit their own needs.

  10. Well, what do you have in mind ? The status quo doesn't entirely satisfy me. To me it seems that the ones doing the directing don't really have my best interests at heart.

  11. I understand what you mean to say and agree. To be more precise though I'd say: They have found their way and I wish it was a different one.

  12. You can't make a difference knowing that?

  13. I've served my country, organized in main stream politics, protested and occupied even. I haven't seem much change as of yet.
Maybe a little from my time as an Occupier but not much.

  14. How do you feel about the predictions for civil unrest globally?

  15. I'd say just look around. We are and mostly always have been with few exception right in the middle of widespread civil unrest. How I feel about that is probably just resigned to it.

  16. Scaring the hell into them brings about order?

  17. My point is and has been since the original post - people only play nice while you make them. Otherwise we're all just a bunch of jerks to whatever degree we can get away with.

  19. That just might be as good a theory as any.
