Do you find Photoshop too imtimidating ? Have you outgrown the Snapchat filters. Here's a very short and quite light introduction to just one of the ways you can add a little "POP" to your pix.
FastStone IV is free and pretty simple to use but has a fair amount of range and power. The video capture program I used is freeware too and is called Screenpresso. Also pretty easy and powerful but not intimidating.

I had a mediocre shot of the last mini/pink moon. It pretty unremarkable due to weather, cheap/used/old bridge camera and having been taken "hand held". It's been tuned up a little with Pixlr and FastStone viewer but all the "heavy lifting" was done in GIMP and G'MIC.

Total (productive) post processing time was about a half hour. Of that, probably ten minutes or so was the zoom blur filter in GIMP.

Hi Guys

Hi Guys
This started out as a mediocre, hand held shot. What can I say ? I'm a lunatic when it comes to moon shots.
I tuned it up a little in FastStone and bump mapped it to exaggerate  the details. Then I faux-HDR'd it in Pixlr with a mask set to about 30% opacity. Finally I used an eliptical marquee to select just the circular shape and filled around it with a bucket of black paint to wipe out the noise.
Total post-processing time - about ten minutes.

I accidentally shared my background screen with a list of words from the scavenger hunt on it. I'll make another one that can be shared tomorrow. Just too tired now.

Here's a short (2 min.) practice demo I did to illustrate a program I've been using for some time for screen caps. It's gotten easier to use and a bit more powerful lately so I wanted to take this opportunity to share it again.

http://www.screenpresso.com/ Has free and paid versions available. I guess the paid one is better, but the free one has suited me just fine. It's always there, just a mouse click away and does screen grabs or videos too.

The program I have open is GIMP. I use the native Google photo editing tools for some things and Pixlr for more involved stuff but for my heavy lifting it's  https://www.gimp.org/ because it's free and open sourced and it does everything (and more) that I can even imagine.

Anyhow- comments, criticism and questions are as always welcome.
P.S. Billy Geiger have you considered using a newer version of GIMP ?

Here's a reminder of the image sizes on Google+:

On posts the best minimum is 800 x 600 pixels or 4:3 ratio
On the profile banner 940 x 180 pixels
On the profile avatar or square picture 250 x 250 pixels

The images on posts can be smaller or bigger too.  The  size shown up on mobile devices and desktops varies, small pictures may appear with the black bars around them.

(The smallest image without the grey bars appearing can be 497 x 100 pixels and the size that just fits the photo share box is 497 x 373 pixels.)

These sizes may not be the best when Google+ is used on a mobile app.  Android devices show square images in full.

Obstruction of Justice

Obstruction of Justice
A criminal offense that involves interference, through words or actions, with the proper operations of a court or officers of the court.
So - shouldn't the GOP be charged in the SCOTUS situation ?

I could have done this without resorting to Pixlr. I've been practicing with my speed light and bounce techniques. If the darned bouncer had stopped smacking me around for a minute anyway...

Trump said he had asked his controversial campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, to devise a plan for seizing power in the event that Congress declares Clinton the winner if she receives the most electoral votes. “Corey’s got some really good ideas about what we need to do and how we need to do it. Nothing is off the table. Believe me,” Trump said, “you’ve never seen anything like it.”
