I'm a little disappointed with the election results.

I'm a little disappointed with the election results.

  1. My deepest disappointment is that people voted 'against" rather than for many individuals.  I will confess, I split my votes between Democrat, Republican and Libertarian candidates.  (And I can understand a person who consistently votes with one  party because that party better represents his ideals.)  But I have a feeling that many were voting against some aspect of the President's policy, rather than for the individuals before them.

  2. Mine is that people embrace liars - even when they admit to knowing that the're lying. I expect politicians to lie - but I wish that people cared about it.

  3. I pretty much expected this...the failure to represent beliefs or values was one aspect...in other words supreme court decisions though not part of a candidates beliefs gets him the blame if his party is in power...the same goes for presidential actions ...most of the people here that I have talked to will vote for Hilary if she runs ...so it's not a party decision for most...the fact that Arkansas is part of the bible belt will always have an effect on elections in my lifetime...the move towards more liberal views will be a slow one and the government trying to force it never really works...integration is an example...while all can go to the same schools we still have ethnic neighborhoods abounding with very small inroads...I have yet to see a housing project in a rich neighborhood...the realization that we don't have money for some great causes will be a major stumbling block going forward...nobody wants to vote against a good cause...lf the country were an individual going to a financial advisor it would be advised to cut up credit cards and live within its means...and bankruptcy would also be a possibility ....it will be a hard time though...and I wouldn't want the jobs of any of them no matter the party...the statement "our way or the highway" still rankles people here and hurts the parties and not just the one that said it though perhaps it the most considering the results...the idea of "just pass it and we'll fix it later" also with the record of DC didn't settle good either...I don't look optimistically at things going forward either...I like an evenly balanced system the best...I really like the need to compromise ...it helps steady the hands that would go to far otherwise ...the readiness that the whitehouse has already given to veto is an indication that compromise will do no good...and the voters will again feel their government in general is to blame...it will effect the next election ...the only thing is which way. I pray for them all to wake up and find ways to work not together as much as for the people...if they do that they will be working together...also semantically the term middle class needs to go...classes seperate...in Arkansas $250,000 a year is rich...not middle ...just my thoughts for what I think...fixing things can't work if you have the wrong part...or you end up with a machine nobody can work

  4. Thank you Gene. I'm glad you felt comfortable to speak on this here. You and Kirk are great blessings to have in my life.
I count my blessing in things that are nice and also things that are hard. It's not easy to appreciate everything that comes our way, We do, I believe (or should) gain more benefit from difficulties than from comforts.
Best wishes and prayers - theo

  5. ted kelly I sort of predicted this whammy when Obama was reelected in 2012.  Nothing in his 1st term gave much hope for real action in the 2nd term - and disappointed people tend to show their disgust.
