I saw this comment in a public post and have removed the name of the person making the comments.

We've been doing community cleanup by doing the block & report and sharing the profile url's.. I have a TOS violations circle that I've been using for folks in this vigilante group. Works well.

I would like to know about this vigilante circle S**** S** . It's nice to know that someone out there is looking out for my well being. Someone to pick and chose my social experience for me. Oh, wait - facebook already has that covered don't they?

I am troubled by the thought of vigilante justice - How about you ?

  1. Yes, that's not good. Even if they only report stuff that is in violation of the ToS, it can be interpreted in pretty broad terms, making it easy to let personal feelings into the decision.

  2. That's fair enough Sherman Smith and I'm not saying it is all bad, but I've seen threads where people reported comments just for disagreeing with them, so I'm a bit weary about users having to much say in these matters.

  3. Fair enough - we all do what we can. It is difficult sometimes to be just - "absolute power" and all that....

  4. Hmmn...I just mute posts that bother me. Haven't reported anybody, nor am I likely to.
