Damon Runyon - Newspaperman, author and icon is just too hard to nail down in such a short space. I'll just leave a link and tease you with the thought that he made the Roller Derby what is still is today.

The Damon Runyon Theater radio series dramatized 52 of Runyon's short stories in weekly broadcasts running from October 1948 to September 1949 Twenty of his short stories were made into movies.
This is about 27 min. long so perhaps you should take it with dinner and a shot with a chaser... (or two) #radioshow

  1. Sadly, I can't listen to it now.  As a friend of several derby skaters I'm interested to hear it, though.  Interesting share...I'm definitely curious!  I'll be back later with comments.
