This is nonsensical. It's based on the false premise that Christmas is a Christian holiday and not a holiday co-opted from multiple pagan origins (especially the practice of gift giving), and the false premise that not accepting the theist position is akin to mental illness when basing your decisions on a belief that is without empirical merit is somehow a sane thing to do.
Oooh, feeling a little sensitive are we. Sorry if my peeps have been bothering you. It's nonsensical because it's supposed to be nonsensical. Relax, lots of us still respect diversity and free will. You should consider tho. that the msg. here is simply that no one group holds a monopoly on hypocrisy.
No one's feeling sensitive here. And there's no hypocrisy in an atheist celebrating Christmas. It is quite tiring though to have one group declaring a holiday that doesn't even have roots in their religion as theirs. I use the word Christmas without regard for Christianity the same way I use Thursday without regard for Thor. Christmas has become a secular tradition for a lot of people despite it's pagan roots.
It's human nature to celebrate, we just need an excuse ;) Being nonreligious, I celebrate things my own way with little regard for tradition and have a good time doing it.
LOL Pat Erickson Paresh Desai :-)
