Some artists can be tagged and labeled and put on a shelf. Others move between worlds and leave behind their marks and you sort of run out labels. Some of them require you to even make new labels.
I thought of Rod as a guilty pleasure. Too pop to take seriously and too weird to be popular. Over time though he kept moving, both forward and from side to side. Finding My Father moved the world and opened parts of it up that might never have been possible.
Singer, Poet, Composer, Activist. Goofball and nominated for both Oscars and Pulitzers, this guy was by any definition, interesting and worth sharing.
