Fluffy Question of the Day

Have you ever been a Crab in a bucket?

Okay, this one needs some background, umkay? If you have ever been to a Crab Boil on the beach, after catching a bucket full of fresh Crab, you already know what I mean, but for the unlucky frozen-crab eating crowd, I will explain.

If you have a bucket full of live Crab, you can watch an entertaining little dance going on within the bucket. Crabs near the top of the bucket could easily escape and potentially save their lives before the pot of water nearby reaches a boil, and they are all tossed in to their deaths.

It is a very rare thing, for a Crab to escape the bucket, because should one Crab reach the edge and begin to lift himself over the side, the other Crabs will grab onto him and pull him back down. It is their nature to not allow another Crab to get away, insuring that all of the Crabs die together.

This sadly, is also a very real human phenomenon.

Take those who would do away with Home Schooling or School Vouchers for private education. Two things with proven successful track records. Arguments are made that it is unfair for some to succeed while others cannot, and attempt to keep all children stuck in that bucket waiting to die a painful death.

In the Black community, there are still children ostracized for "acting white" if they speak correctly, get good grades, etc, regardless of how it might affect their futures.

This sort of thing goes on everywhere, and having experienced some of it myself, I thought I'd ask if any of you, have been fortunate enough to have made it out of that bucket, and made something of yourself in spite of those who would keep you stuck in that bucket with them?

Tell me!

  1. In the army they taught us to work together in situations like that. Work together for some to get to the top of the wall but then they were supposed to reach down and bring the others up too. All for one and one for all !
