I tried to look up the facts on this subject. Neither snopes not fact check have anything on it. Obviously it's a cover-up. What are they hiding from us anyway ?

  1. I got it from the Internet.  The Internet never lies.

  2. I once read a book called the philosophy of knowledge and what I took away from that book is that we don't actually know anything and everything is simply speculation based on probability.

For instance, I can clap my hands together and make a noise but I don't know that clapping my hands together will make a noise every time. What happens when I am submerged in water? My hands clapping together will not make noise.

The only thing you can know is a past action that is no longer relevant.

That all gets very far away from the point of this authors intent however and it appears that the authors intent was not based on our capacity to collect 'knowledge' and what exactly constitutes knowledge but simply on the fact that the world as a whole is gaining more access to communication yet instead of becoming more informed we are largely becoming more gullible.

To that end I would have to agree but I also feel it is a phenomenon of nature and as part of nature it is balanced. While a large sect of the populace of the planet is indeed becoming far more gullible there is also a sect of the populace that is excelling far past what they ever could have achieved sans Internet.

Denouncing social media as the worst of the worst is IMHO a grave mistake. Im not an avid follower of any particular social media myself but social media is a rather important part of the global communication network that is evolving. It's a powerful tool for oppressed people to get their stories out to the world. It's is an incredible way for verified entities to offer immediate reporting of events. It's a voice for the traditionally voiceless.

I'm of the opinion that a small amount of critical thinking can go a long way. The fools are indeed getting more foolish but the wise are in turn getting wiser.

  3. I think I get what you are saying, let me rephrase my post in a more concise way...

Screw the dumb people, look how freakin smart the smart people are getting. :D

  4. Another aspect that I consider disturbing is that we no longer feel that there are consequences to our online voices. If we see something and reshare it and it it gets a lot of action we feel cool. If we later find out that it was b,s. we can't "take it back". How deeply ingrained in our behavior is the concept, "it's only facebook".
I put some thought into composing and posting something about Mr. Trump calling Senator Cruz a pussy. It was going to be a killer blog and who know ? Just like that, I might be the next Borowitz or Mike Rowe. Of course I wanted to include a clip to prevent any argument questioning said faux-pas and guess what ? He didn't actually say that. The word was on his lips but he didn't actually make that claim himself.
    sigh...
    Danm stupid facts, grr...   #realitybites
