Ask nicely and sometimes they let you park right by the gate instead of a mile away. So, no waiting in a line for the shuttle bus !
It's always a nice surprise when the gate person says, "Oh no, don't bother walking all the way over there to buy a ticket. Here's a spare wristband and you just go right in".
Action photography is really hard. This was good practice though.
Folks around here clean up after themselves. Also, it you leave your homemade beanbag on a garbage can for forty five minutes they don't steal it, toss it in the can or on the ground. It's still there when you go back by. (I use it to steady the camera)
They let you bring in bags, chairs (in bags), cameras (in bags), blankets and coolers and stuff - right out to the flightline.
Finally, it was way cool when one of them flew his plane through a ribbon stretched across the runway about eight feet up. The pilot really worked it too. A couple of very low, very fast and very close passes to get our attention and he came on the PA over the radio and said he was going to cut the ribbon NOW. Well, I was expecting low and fast but what was just, well, unexpected ? He came in upside down.

  1. Very nice! I'm jelly. We also went to an air show and I got nice video and Phil got nice pictures, but not only was the weather difficult, but the way they set up the chairs was not very well thought out. They had a show on the ground too, but we couldn't see it. They had a vehicle parked in the way. But overall, we enjoyed ourselves anyway.

  2. Elizabeth Childs This one was sure different from the last one I went to. It was in Ft Lauderdale and had F-16's and B-1 bombers as well as Marines "assaulting" the beach and stuff. There were also nearly 100K people there who didn't pick up their garbage so much,so it different in a couple of ways.
